Text File Reader

Read selected UTF-8 text files and combine their contents in the browser. This is not PDF or Word extraction and has no encoding selector.

Text File Reader

Reads selected text-like files with browser File.text() and combines their raw contents. The picker suggests .txt,.csv,.md,.html,.htm,.json,.xml,.svg,.log; this is UTF-8 text decoding, not PDF/Word document extraction, OCR or an encoding detector. There is no character-encoding selector. HTML tags remain literal source text rather than being stripped or rendered.

Each file is prefixed with ===== filename ===== and a newline; file sections are separated by two newlines in selection order. Example: a.txt containing Hello and b.html containing <b>Hi</b> yield ===== a.txt ===== followed by Hello, a blank separator, then ===== b.html ===== followed by literal <b>Hi</b>.

The combined UTF-8 plain-text download is named extracted-text.txt. It contains headers as well as source content; it is not a byte-identical concatenation of the original files. UTF-8 decoding may replace malformed byte sequences, so use correct-encoding source files and keep originals.

Requires at least one file. Processing limits are 500 files, 64 MiB per file and 128 MiB combined input; memory-constrained devices may fail below these ceilings because decoded strings and combined output coexist. New runs clear old downloadable results before validation, and Clear removes the selection and disables downloads.

Processing is local in the browser, with no AI/upload. Mobile users should start with a few small text files, run extraction then review and download. It preserves textual dates, decimal separators and CSV delimiters rather than interpreting or converting them. Scanned PDFs, DOCX, hidden metadata and automatic structured table extraction are unsupported.

Processing takes place locally in your browser.
