Random Group Generator

Enter one member per line and choose either a number of groups or a maximum group size. The list is shuffled first and members are then distributed round-robin across the calculated groups.

For five members and two groups, the result contains groups of three and two after shuffling. For a group size of two, the same list creates three groups with no more than two members each.

The group parameter must be a whole number from 1 to 1,000 and the calculated group count cannot exceed the number of members. Input is limited to 100,000 characters and the first 10,000 non-empty trimmed lines.

Duplicate names are treated as separate list entries. The algorithm balances counts but does not balance skills, preferences, relationships or any other attributes.

Shuffling stays in the browser and uses cryptographic random integers. There is no seed, saved roster, history or guarantee that repeated runs create different or statistically optimal assignments.
