Online Solid-Color Background Remover

Removes one approximately solid background color from a browser-decodable image. Background defaults to white and Color tolerance defaults to 35 on a bounded 0..100 scale; the code compares Euclidean RGB distance with tolerance multiplied by 4.42.

Pixels inside the threshold become transparent by default or change to the chosen replacement color. Optional Smooth edges creates a partially transparent transition just outside the threshold, while Round edges averages alpha in a circular neighborhood with radius clamped to 1..8 pixels.

At tolerance 10, the effective RGB-distance threshold is 44.2: a pixel whose color is 40 RGB-distance units from the selected background is removed, while one 60 units away is retained unless edge smoothing applies. Always inspect pale subject edges before download.

The input is limited to 25 MB and 24,000,000 decoded pixels. Output dimensions match the source and the result downloads as PNG, which is required to preserve transparency; source metadata, format and animation are not retained.

This is color-distance removal, not AI subject segmentation. It works best with a flat, evenly lit background and may remove similarly colored subject areas or leave shadows, hair fringes and reflections. Processing stays in the browser and the original is not modified.
