A fixed date table
The selected year validates the calendar date, including leap days; the sign is selected only from its month and day. The ranges below are the exact table used here, with MM-DD meaning month-day. Capricorn crosses the end of the year.
- Capricorn:
12-22–01-19 - Aquarius:
01-20–02-18 - Pisces:
02-19–03-20 - Aries:
03-21–04-19 - Taurus:
04-20–05-20 - Gemini:
05-21–06-21 - Cancer:
06-22–07-22 - Leo:
07-23–08-22 - Virgo:
08-23–09-22 - Libra:
09-23–10-23 - Scorpio:
10-24–11-22 - Sagittarius:
11-23–12-21
Supported years are 1–9999. Gregorian leap-year rules are applied throughout this range, including years before the Gregorian calendar was adopted. The lookup treats the input as a civil calendar date, not an instant, so time zones and historical local date skips do not change it.
For example, 2024-02-29 is a valid leap day and maps to Pisces; 1900-02-29 is invalid under Gregorian rules.
What the result means
This is a lookup under this particular fixed convention, not a calculation of the Sun’s astronomical position. Other popular tables may differ by a day at a boundary. Birth time and place, year-specific sign transitions, sidereal astrology, rising signs, moon signs and natal charts are not calculated.
The lookup runs in the browser; it does not need a birth time or location.
