What this tool actually does
Strength has linked slider and number input from 0 to 100%, step 0.01, default 50. Zero preserves source RGB; 100 applies the full sepia matrix.
Checkable behavior
Matrix target: R'=0.393R+0.769G+0.189B, G'=0.349R+0.686G+0.168B, B'=0.272R+0.534G+0.131B. The source and target are blended by strength/100 and clamped to 0..255.
Controls, output and limitations
Tested RGB(100,150,200) becomes (192,171,134) at 100% and (146,161,167) at 50%, after rounding. This creates warm brown tones, not a pure black-and-white result.
Browser-local single-image preview and download. No film-grain, scratches, historical-photo restoration or batch selector on this page. Preserve the original; strong effects can clip highlights.
One source file may contain at most 25 MiB (26214400 bytes) and 24000000 pixels. The PNG has the same dimensions; animated input becomes a static browser snapshot. The pixel calculation preserves alpha and blends the raw matrix result with the source before clipping. At 0 the color calculation is neutral, but decoding and PNG export may change metadata, profiles and file bytes. Clear removes source and result and disables download, while keeping strength. To remove the effect from the still-loaded source, set strength to 0 and generate again; there is no edit history.
